Jim
Slusher, Assistant Managing Editor/Staff
Development at The Daily Herald,
Arlington Heights, IL send this
evaluation form they often use at the end of sessions to get
some measure of their success. Although this is a valuable tool,
he uses it somewhat sparingly. "We conduct monthly training
sessions for each of several groups in the newsroom, and I've
found that unless you insist that no one leave the room without
certification of having turned in an evaluation, you tend to
get a very small return and this either from those who love
or those who hate a session, a questionable sample on all counts."
